weekend decorating + DIY sphere pendant lamp

This past weekend I decided to re-style my fireplace using a pair of antlers that I purchased last week. The antlers turned out to be poor quality and didnt work for me so I ended up returning them. I got this deer head from West Elm instead.

It is handmade by artists in Haiti using recycled materials. I really love the contrast with the gray wall and also decided to leave the mantel clear of any items, other than a candle for a more dramatic look. I LOVE the new look. Minimal but just what I envisioned. Sometimes less really is more..dont you think?

While at West Elm, I spotted this wooden sphere on sale for $9.99 and decided to buy it. When I got it home, it didnt really look good anywhere so I decided to repurpose it as a pendant lamp shade and I think it really works well. We have to add dimmers but other than that it was super easy to do. You like?

Here’s are a few more things I have on my wish list for the dining room.

The Meurice chandelier by Jonathan Adler has been on this list for far too long. The bench is just what I wanted to complete our dining set and the right length and height too. I want the gold LOVE poster by Jen and the antlers from Pottery Barn for styling the bar cart with. The peacock figurines to adorn my holiday table!
