sneak peek: master bedroom makeover

I thought you might like a lil sneak peek into the progress on my master bedroom suite makeover.

My considerations for this makeover-  This is a huge space with inconsistent yet high ceilings. I want it to feel luxurious yet functional. Glamorous but not feminine. Comfy and modern.

We started by painting the walls: refreshing blue by Behr. It turned out just the right shade of tiffany-blue that I wanted. Then, we tackled our closet organization situation. And I am not kidding when I say “situation”. Pretty much all of my clothes were sprawled out on a coffee table in the bedroom.  One main reason for that was accessibility behind the door of the walk-in closet. The closet is 30 sq ft and the door swung inwards, largely restricting access and space. Just by removing the door (and some weeding through clothes) we (I) gained more space to organize my clothes and accessories. And the coffee table, now free of huge piles of clothes, serves it original purpose – stacking magazines and

To create a more luxurious and cozy feel we dressed the windows in soft silk drapes (Empress Luxe Silk Solid Wide Width Lined Drape in ivory) from curtainworks.  I totally love the way they add drama and sophistication to the room.

What do you gals think?

I still have quite a few more things to add to finish the makeover. A pot of gold would help speed things up but for now, I am happy to take things slow and am on the lookout for the right elements with an affordable price tag.

On the hunt for a chandelier and some good bedside lights, bed linen, a wing back chair and a small bookcase.
