pop of sunshine on “blue monday” + inspiration for work space

Did you know today is ‘Blue Monday’? Marked as the most depressing day of the year? I didnt.

At least until this morning when I saw it trending on twitter. According to trending list:

January 17, 2011 happens to be the third Monday of January, which makes it ‘Blue Monday’, supposedly the most depressing day of the year.

WHY and WHO on Earth would someone want to create and mark such a day? Sounds like a terrible idea. MLK jr is just fine thank you.

I hope your day was not depressing at all.

A pop of sunshine especially for those, who like me, woke up to another cold winter Monday.

A few hours of store-hopping seeking storage solutions today  =  progress with our study/work space, kitchen and closet makeover projects.

Work space {which hub and I share} being most critical ranked highest on the list. Im not kidding when I say it is a DISASTER zone. My files, props and other junk EVERYWHERE.

On a ridiculously tight budget, this is the direction I am going in with my section of our study.

And a layout similar to this for the hub’s office/library end.

  • LOL! Now that we have successfully survived the “most depressing day” it’s all uphill from here? I can live with that!

I’d love the workspace pictured last! Have a great week ahead…..

    • gagan, yay for your postivity too.

  • Hey, I have had a pretty depressing day tbh.. however seeing that crazy workspace has cheered me up 🙂 how I would love to go through all those lovely books.. heaven!

  • I had no idea someone determined the ‘most depressing’ day of the year! How depressing. But….I got these boots for Christmas and they definitely help me through a rainy-overcast-dreary day…. 🙂

  • I agree with Erika, crazy to have such a thing! My day was extremely busy and tiring but far from depressing! I hope you’ll share some pics of your new work space soon!x

  • I am in the exact same boat. My husband and I finally both decided that after next week we are completely redoing the office, turning it into a glamorous work space. One wall is going to be completely devoted to our dreams and aspirations and will be filled with ToDo lists of steps to take toward our goals. But mostly, it will be really luxurious.
