hello + brooklyn flea

Sorry for being MIA the last couple of days. We just got back from NYC yesterday and I have SO much to share with you about my trip there.

From attending the Rue magazine party and meeting lovely bloggers/designers to making the rounds at flea markets and ABC home to NYIGF, it was a busy but totally fun few days.

{insert: whining about not living in NYC anymore and wanting a pied-e-terre there}

One place I was determined to check out was the Brooklyn Flea market. I have wanted to go for like years now but just never got around to it. For those of you who havent heard of it before Brooklyn Flea features 100s of vendors selling repurposed furniture, vintage clothing, jewelry, art and crafts by local artisans and designers, and YUMMY fresh food. A must visit for lovers and collectors of vintage and antique finds.

In the winter the venue is skylight one hanson place which used to be a bank. The art-deco building is soo gorgeous with its 63′ ceilings, beautiful golden mosaic murals and has been restored to host large events and parties.

I most enjoyed the fresh food. Two things I recommend you absolutely MUST taste and buy –

– ginger syrup by morris kitchen: Im addicted to it. Add a tiny bit to sparkling water for a refreshing drink. Also great in tea/ coffee or cocktails.

– salsa by the brooklyn salsa company: Named after the five boroughs of NY, each one with a different level of heat and spice. Warming the Brooklyn is HOT!!!

Have any of you been?
