If you have a good chance of dropping your California roll midway to your mouth, then TUKAANI is perfect for you.
The sterling silver TUKAANI is a hand made eating device for Asian food. It may be held as traditional chopsticks. But unlike the disposable wooden chopsticks, TUKAANI is both machine and hand washable and much easier to set on – and use at table. The matt surface and taut movement allow steady grip in the hand. The curl at the end of the TUKAANI provides eased food picking and delivery to the mouth. The loop also allows easier hanging, storage and display.
I think it looks very stylish and appears to be so easy to use. So practical. Tukaani can be ordered through Mochatini or directly on Kawiya.fi.
TUKAANI is Finnish for the toucan bird species. The Toucan’s bill provided inspiration for this cutlery project.
Tukaani is Lincoln Kayiwa’s stylish replacement to the traditional wooden chopsticks. No more embarrassing moments or wood splinters. Lincoln is also working on some other interesting projects like the Rosè. The ROSÈ glasses are the solution to the wobbly glasses at picnics. No more drink spills!
And another interesting design by Lincoln, the Ittoli. Sculpture, amorphous, malleable… However you may interpret it, the ITTOLI is a comfortable single metallic rod three seater thanks to the alignment of the loops and contours, which also allow the varying sitting postures.
To see his other work, visit his website. I can’t wait to see more designs by Lincoln. He has promised to keep us updated on Mochatini.
