Happy new week! I want to start this week with a book review. HGTV host and designer Monica Pedersen’s Make it Beautiful, designs and ideas for entertaining at home. I met Monica last year at the LV Market and we got to chatting about her book. A year later, I am delighted to get my hands on her book.
In her familiar sparkly-style Monica Pedersen Make it Beautiful is a helpful resource and step-by-step guide to hosting beautiful and cost-friendly get togethers.
Page after page of inviting parties, staging tips, sources and recipes narrated in her signature-style.
I especially love how she personalizes each party with details, custom fabrics (dont miss the Scalamandre Zebra prints in the Black-white baby shower) and modern sensibilities catering to every taste. The luscious, full-color coffee table book is the latest go-to guide for elegant and approachable entertaining making the perfect holiday, birthday or hostess gift.
As a special treat, {well in-time for the upcoming holiday season} one reader will win an autographed copy of Monica Pedersen Make It Beautiful.

Am a follower on Pinterest. My go-to party planning tip is to layer your dinnerware to make your table more interesting. Charger, dinner plate, salad plate and then add something fun like a small bowl with flowers, a fun placecard or maybe a fun takeaway gift for your guest.
My go to tip is this: colored table cloth and white platters, so both the platters and the food pop. I also set out a mix of homemade and store bought foods -great cheeses and petit fours from the store, plus what I make. Lastly, once I have the list of homemade items I want to prepare, I chop the list in half to ensure it is actually doable!
My go-to party planning tip is to always have some sort of fresh flowers around and to mix up different white dishes to create interest in your place settings!
